Who I am

While volunteering at my kids’ schools, I saw a few problems first hand. Super-capable, caring teachers struggling with learning gaps across the classroom. Students whose second language was English, working so hard to keep up with their peers. As if new math concepts aren’t difficult enough in your own language! Kids not enjoying science because there wasn’t enough funding for hands-on activities.

That’s when it clicked for me. I thought if I could bring my marketing experience to the people who were working to make a difference in education, then I could help them make a difference, too. That’s how Better Place Marketing came to be. Now I am fortunate enough to work with brilliant, dedicated people at education foundations & nonprofits and edtech companies, all working to transform education and make students and teachers’ lives better.

I have 25 years of experience targeting prospects and customers through multiple marketing channels. I've provided marketing strategy and execution for nonprofits, startups, and established brands. I have created marketing campaigns for education nonprofits and technology companies, targeted to school district superintendents, IT directors, teachers, parents, and community members.  I earned an MBA from Haas School of Business, Berkeley. Some of my spare time goes to volunteering for GripTape, and I've served on various boards including an education foundation, Summit STEM, school accountability, and a district School Start Time Task Force.

If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do.
